Omega constellation 1602

Post11 Jan 2012, 19:03

I have compared both the omega and pulsar date 2 and in terms of build quality, looks, heft and all round wrist status, the omega wins hands down.
I think this is the best omega of them all,and the only omega model to have all the following in one watch, litronix dot display, all steel with the smooth solid links (not those horrible capped ones) observatory case back. The pulsar looks and feels a bit wimpish in comparison

It's an impressive watch, no doubt about it. I aspire to own one someday.

Thank you, here's another pic, perhaps the most beautiful led watch of them all? The build and overall feel puts it on a higher level than the pulsar, which does feel the cheaper made product.

Not much to choose between them but the Constellation just edges out the TC1 if only for the observatory on the back case.

I must admit the Omega digital 1s and 2s have the edge over the TCs for me.

Both of these are great looking watches, congrats on your latest purchase Holly. I do prefer the TC1 pictured here though you make a good point about the capped links. They can look awful in some pictures but really are not noticeable on the wrist! My last purchase was a TC2 and I'm sure I would be happy with either of these fine watches, even have the same box as mine too! I'd like to add one of these to my collection but all in good time...

I'm intrigued by all of this chat about observatory backs. Can someone drop a piccy of that bit for our collective admiration :?:

Honestly, I think arguing about build quality at this level is a bit silly. These watches are all constructed in a similar way. There is very little difference, for example, in the construction of an Omega TC-1 and TC-2 and a Hamilton QED. The Hamilton, I think, is even a bit heftier (not that that's an indication of quality). At this level, it really comes down to personal preference in design (and to some extent brand affiliation and marketing).

Here's a photo of an observatory back on a Constellation (in this case, a 1603):

I agree both are superb, I think Holly35 is just expressing how happy he is with his purchase, I was with the one that I purchased ;-) :-D

Great photo of the observatory, OK it is only a case back but it still gets a wolf whistle from me, it's a sexy little minx of a case back, I bet she can get real dirty too

The Omegas are, without a doubt, top shelf, no doubt about it, and the 1602 is stellar. The example that he has is top notch. I didn't mean to detract from it.

I do really like the observatory backs, I must admit. I have a TV faced Omega Contellation f300 tuning fork watch that I'm currently trying to repair. Hopefully soon I'll be wearing a watch with an observatory back also!

p.s. Glad you're enjoying your minty 1602. It's a looker.

Thank you all for the comments.I know there is not a huge difference in quality, its just that the subtle finishing touches to the omega, its general look and feel edges the others out, its bracelet quality is noticeably better, not to mention its pedigree. It is my favorite . :-D
