Yet another Drivers Watch....

Post02 Sep 2012, 22:05

I was looking around web sites the other day and went to Retroleds.com and saw another drivers watch, only this time it was one I didn't have, the holy grail of Bulova LED watches a two tone drivers watch. I have had my red stripe and since then have seen at least 4 more. But in talking with people the red stripe is rare, but for every 4 of those there is about 1 two tone. This isn't for sure, but it's based on people's opinions and observation. Anyway I saw Ed's and had to have it. I bought it and got it home and it was actually better than his description lead me to believe. I have seen quite a few "unworn" condition watches but this was the first I saw that lived up to the description.

Long story shorter, I wound up buying it and got it in the mail and was wearing it later that day. I will say that only my Majestyk II gets more attention than a Bulova Drivers watch. People had tons of questions and every little kid wanted to press the button. I was pretty accommodating on this. The only thing was a requirement of clean hands. I haven't seen that many smiles in a long time.

Anyway I am writing this to complement Ed on a great deal and very professionally handled start to finish. I am very happy with the watch. I still can't believe it was there for any amount of time. If I would have seen it sooner I would have owned it sooner. Just pays to remember that the auction site isn't the only place to find great watches at great deals. Now there is this Tudor Submariner I am thinking about......

Well, that was nice. Yes, the watch was totally unworn factory stock - but the module had been replaced. I left the circle of sticker glue on the bottom purposely as an indicator of it's lack of "Wrist Life". It was there for a while is not totally accurate....I had three of those NOS cases...they all gone now. I would agree that the two tone is much rarer than the red-top. 4:1 is probably about right. Sort of like the coffin cases: the one with three lines at the front(top) of the case, which go from left to right is very rare compared to all the ones that are smooth on top with the angle running along right/left sides(top).
