Q&Q dot matrix display watch-Game/WT/Moon phases/Tides/Memo

Post07 Nov 2016, 10:40

Hi, looking into my drawer I have found a watch like this: a Q&Q with DOT MATRIX display, made around Year 2000.
The watch may look cheap and quite ugly designed, but its capabilities are quite impressive for a cheap Q&Q watch, made probably more than 15 years ago:

One can see the nice animations for various functions and the simple driver game on that tiny Dot Matrix display of the watch, in the short movie below (the movie is not mine!):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bljc_U1Uruk

FUNCTIONS:
TIME: Hour/Min/Sec (AM/PM or 24-hour display)
CALENDAR: Year/Month/Date/Day (Years 2000 - 2040)
WORLDTIME/ZONE SETTING: 28 cities/time zones (+ individual Summertime setting for for every city!)
DATA MEMORY: Memos for 576 letters
TIDE GRAPH: Graphic display showing tendency toward spring tide or neap tide
ALARM: 5 different alarms ( Hour/Min - AM/PM or 24-hour), Chime, Beep
STOPWATCH: Hour, Min, Sec, 1/100 sec; memory for last 10 out of 100 laps/splits!
GAME: Drive game
MOONPHASEs: Graphic display of the stage of the lunar cycle
7 LANGUAGES: Day-of-the-week display; function messages
ELECTROLUMINESCENT LIGHT

So, my question is if somebody may know more details about this watch and if there are available other known DOT Matrix watches with the same or a similar Dot Matrix LCD module, from the same timeline?
I already know that Q&Q is a brand of Japan CBM Corporation - which is a division of Citizen Corporation, so I wonder if there are available some (Citizen?) dot matrix watches with a similar Dot Matrix module, but a better and more appealing design?
Thanks in advance for Your kind answers,
Regards,
:dwf:

What I've found until now:
1. The watch model is Q&Q MTM1 and it was available for selling until around 2006-2008:
http://www.master-egypt.com/QQ/lcd.html
2. It has a (Q&Q made?!? ) full screen dot matrix P590 module and for such a module I have NOT found any functionally-equivalent (full screen) dot matrix module from the same timeline (e.g. from Citizen) - even if Citizen have used some dot-matrix modules in their Independent 1481010 line around 1998-2000 (e.g. solar powered D600 module ), but with much less functions: only dual time, stopwatch, single alarm and countdown timer - thus without World time, Moon phases, Tides or game! :grin1:

3. One can see the user manual of the Q&Q MTM1 watch on the URL below:

Any other info about such quite complex (and Full Screen) dot matrix LCD watch modules from around Year 2000 - of any maker - will be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
