any good books

Post12 Dec 2007, 14:29

I have been trying to learn watch repairing, especially for early led/lcd I have bought several books (quite expensive) and been disapointed with them all, some are really old and not very practical, the best i suppose was 'mechanical and quartz watch repair by mick watters' but even that assumed you already know alot.

So can anyone recommend a book for a beginner, also if theres any ebooks floating around this forum can I get a copy.

One appears every now and then on ebay, but I can't remember it's name, but it was printed in the early 80's and was available until fairly recently.

Found it here. 2nd one down.

Your best bet. Be sure to practice on cheap ones first......

Here's a discussion about copies of the book Fitron mentions, and a source where to get it (Zantech):

Thanks for the replys.. I had seen that thread so was aware of that particular book... I hope to try and get myself a copy.

Not sure if they will ship to the UK however.

Im suprised about the lack of decent books on horology, not just for LED/LCD but for other quartz and mechanical as well.

Too true, I've just scanned Edinburgh's entire public library catalogue and there's only three available, one of which mentions quartz in the title, but I bet it's analogue ones. I've reserved them so I can let people know if it's any use or not.
