Changing perspectives & shifting priorities... oh, the p

Post16 Feb 2008, 00:03

I had this great old Benrus LED watch, tucked away in a box. I nestled it in with a bunch of other old stuff from my high school days before I headed off to college. Years later, when I came back home from the USAF (after college), I ended up rummaging through a few of my old boxes. And I distinctly remembered seeing the watch, marveling at its weighty feel and now "obsolete" design (given the plethora of much more efficient LCD watches). I didn't plan on wearing it, so I... put it back. But where? I had tossed out some old stuff and rearranged a few things in different boxes, then put them back up in my folk's attic.

So, now about 15 years later, I return... and I've rummaged through all of my boxes that were still in my folk's attic. No watch. Crikey, I have no idea what happened to it! I haven't exhausted all avenues yet... I have more "recent" stuff in other boxes in my own place, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be there. I know for sure I didn't toss it. I put it... somewhere.

Anyway, back then if I'd seen more value in the watch, I'd have put it in a much safer place and not lost track of it. Perspective is a tricky thing, isn't it? One day it's an item "not worth much bother", then later on it becomes that "oh man, I really want it!" thing. Dammit.

Anyone else have some stories of lost LED treasures? :-(
