SeikoKid in the USA

Post27 Jun 2013, 06:00

So, I've decided to take an extended holiday to America

Along with checking out some of the amazing sites this country has to offer I figured I would see if any fellow watch collectors were up for a quick hello?

Today I had the honor of catching up with Bruce Wegmann. As I am in the San Diego area for the start of my trip and staying with my friend who is also a devoted collector

Soon I plan to head up the east coast and then later on try and get myself along the famous Route 66 landing in NY

Meeting Bruce today was an amazing experience and I had the privilege to see some of his beautiful collection - Bruce, Thank you very much for today and also for letting me wear one of your iconic models!

Over the last few days I have been making my way north from San Diego up to San Fransisco via the Sequoia national park
LA is a shithole , but I did manage to view John Foggertys Star on Hollywood Boulevard!
Earlier today I checked out a few watch and thrift stores in Central California and came across this little beauty - not sure if it works yet? but the find itself was unbelievable !

Slowly have been working my way up the west coast. Across Canada and am at present spending a few days in NYC

San Fran, Seattle proved fruitless. Calgary got me a cheapie digi - wasent in Toronto long enough to look

Unfortunalty my visit has co incided with the hottest weather here in some time and walking around Manhatten has been somewhat exhausting

I did manage to find a few gems but that was all that I could find, no Casios or Seikos at all :(

Image

I bought this in Calgary for $1 just for the fun of it

I like the citizens.... But they are hard to repair if they are not starting.
Let me tell ya that we to have very hot weather at the moment. A few days over 30 degrees and that's exceptional, :Prost:

Hey Andy,

The 2 watches that are the same in the picture are M159 5039's,
they were used in part with advertising for one of the James Bind films ( Moonraker I think? )

it's the next model up from the 0634 5009 ( basically it has a 24hr stopwatch )

I'm halfway but not a damn Seiko insight :(

Wow i just love the Otron solar time!!!Great quality...if you want to sell it let me know...... ;-)

Have a nice days in USA.....
Some watches are made to last only as long as they are fashionable
Some watches, simply are not made to last
Seiko watches are designed to withstand the ravages of both time and fashion
Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way
