Pulsar Magnet Value

Post15 Aug 2011, 23:49

Hi.

I was asked if I might sell an extra P4 magnet and I was wondering what a fair price might be?

Out of curiosity, what would be considered fair market value for the following:
P1 magnet
P2 magnet
P3 magnet
P4 magnet
Pulsar magnet envelope

If we're going to use eBay as a reference (which I don't think is unreasonable...you can look at completed items and get a fair idea of what things are actually selling for), then it goes about like this:

P1 Magnet $500-800
P2 Magnet $25-35 (C-shape)
P3 Magnet $20-25 (D-shape, also works for P2)
P4 Magnet $15-20 (also fits Ladies' Models)

Don't forget Dress Keychain Magnet $50-100

Generic Magnet envelope $5-10 Keychain envelope $10-25 (rare!)

Range allows for variations in condition. Nothing here is set in stone, of course; items might go high or low outside these ranges depending on buyer's need or general bidder apathy...bargains still do show up on eBay, and newbies occasionally push prices beyond any limit of reason..

Hi Helmar,
I forgot to post a reply to your mail, sorry. No sales at the moment.
This will be the best place to ask for spare magnets although the keychain for your Dress is hard to find.

PS. Bruce, how high would you value an Omega magnet, NOS in blister for the 1600?

I have seen them go as high as $100 on eBay...I guess that would be top dollar. Of course, it would lose a lot of its' value if you actually broke open the package to use it. I bought a pair (for 50 and 60 dollars) as display spares for my 18K TC1, when they were first offered, and the rarity might not have been fully appreciated. I have personally paid as much as $600 for a P1 magnet (a good investment, in my opinion, as it adds at least that much value to the watch, making it complete and thus more salable). The keychain magnets are another underrated rarity.
