Swapping lids on Pulsar boxes?

Post23 May 2015, 19:52

Hi all. :-D

I have two pulsar boxes. One has a damaged upper half, the other has a damaged lower half. I would like to try and remove the top halves of both and swap them over, so one box is then u damaged.

Any tips on how to do this, so I don't break them?

One of the box lids already has a gap where the hinge is (see pics). Is it just a case of sliding the top half off the hinge, or is it fixed onto it? I also see internally the lower lining tucks into the upper half. Is that glued in there?

Thanks all!

The hinges are inside the box in that raised lip you see on the back. You'll have to release either the paper inside the lid or in the bottom of the box to pull out the hinge with the good lid attached. Then do the same to the other box, then put both good pieces together and glue the paper back onto the lid or bottom of the box. If that makes any sense

Thank you! I had missed your reply till now.

I nervously pulled them both apart a couple of days ago. I didn't find either were glued anywhere, so I slotted them back together as I found them. I now have a nice box and an ugly box lol

Thank you again! :-D

No problem cte and very happy to hear it worked out for you :-D

Finding old boxes to go with watches is some of the best fun in watch collecting.
