hi all the p1 is back for sale on e bay (usa) this time with a buy it now 18k plus, as mint as can be , is it worth it ?
At the BIN price, no. The opening bid is closer to the mark, at $14.5k. It does have the setting magnet (a big plus), but no boxes, papers, or owner's manual. $13K would be a good price, $12K, a great price. This one has not been available to collectors before.
Top-end...minty, working, boxes, all papers and manual, spare magnet, registration card...$20-25K. Probably only about a dozen out there, this complete.
It should be borne in mind that, at 50 or so known, the P1 is far from being the rarest Pulsar...I can think of half a dozen models that are numerically MUCH rarer...the 3140, the 7725, any of the three types of 18K Calculators, the 6414-2, the 5420-2, the 1201 and 1211, the 7409...and several others. Only two 14K P1s are known, and I have not seen a model number associated with this variation.
But it carries the distinction of being the world's first electronic digital watch, and thus enjoys a particular historical significance.
