p3 modules- repair or exchange?

Post14 Mar 2006, 22:38

Hi, I have a couple of pulsar p3 date commands, both are non working and only show random errattic numbers, are they fixable or should I be looking for replacements mods. Thank you for your time in advance. F.e.a.r

If you look closely, can you see a pattern to the erratic numbers? For example, is the middle segment of each digit missing? If you can identify a pattern, there is a good chance that there is a faulty transistor that could be replaced and the module brought back to life.

Thanks HDLED,

After further research I have come to the conclusion that they are dead, after noticing that its more so random nonsence than numbers ( And the fact that Ive knocked off a transistor while poking about  )

Azimuth_pl gave me the idea of using another LED watch as a donor, take a look:

Ive got plenty of non Pulsar modules knocking around so its time to get my soldering iron out. Watch this space as if Im successful I will post some pics. Thanks, F.e.a.r

Hello F.e.a.r,

an instruction for replacing a Pulsar P3 module by a NSC modul is given on my site under:

http://www.digitalwatches.de/DEUTSCH_REPARATUREN.htm

Unfortunately the text is written in German, but the pictures should be self explaining. Sorry for this! Thanks!

You can try the Babelfish translation, quite good IMHO.

"Can't let the wife catch me tinkering"??? Well, that explains the "f.e.a.r."! BTW, here in the US, you can now buy a PULSAR toothbrush...a few years ago, Nissan produced a car by the same name. In my mind, though, a Pulsar will always be an LED watch.

Pressure job, morgage, wife, kids and a million jobs to do around the house,of course I`ve got the f.e.a.r......or I could just be a big Ian Brown fan (ex Stone Roses frontman,UK will understand more so) BUT I`m still sh#t scared of her in doors! She may have my body but she`ll never take away the watches in my head

I didnt realise that the digital watch forum would have such diversity!

Watches,language conversion,toothbrushes,cars,computor games,school days,pop stars and my missus.

Very interesting,keep it up!! F.e.a.r

Ps I met Ozzy Osbourne,Anthony Kiedis (chilli peppers) and Busted (LOL) whilst on holiday last year, just thought I`d throw that into the mix.
