Another MK I module

Post29 Jun 2007, 07:32

Hi,
I have here another partial worker. As you can clearly see, three of the display drivers have simply corroded away. So only one of the digits is working so far.
In the meantime I was able to reglue two of them with silver epoxy with replacements from other PCBs.
Now I'm up to three working digits...

Pictures will follow.

OK have fun but I still think both will work with the 2 lead can QC and the two lead Trimmer that was previously removed. There really is no other "circuitry" missing or damaged beyond use.Just a total of 1 extra part and only 4 solder connections for both. The second part being a device for finner adjustments or the trimmer capicitor in this case.

I must say it is amazing these old ones are able to come alive, resurected from a box 15 years inside of an alluminum tractor trailor on a mountain side in Upstate NY.Barry even stated, admitted this on one of his auctions. Imagine the temperature extremes they went through without any cover from moisture or complete encapsulation in gel. Some of them grew green just from being in the same box with worse ones. The chip is obviously well protected and salvagable even if other problems are present.

Cheers

Very nice work indeed!

I'm looking for a Synchronar myself. It's reassuring to know that they can sometimes be resurrected.

Cheers,
Ian

Really excellent work! Those displays appear to be better quality than those used by many other manufacturers. It's also nice to see that the pcb is fibreglass.

Keep up the good work,

Ian
