Synchronar MK4 revival

Post11 Apr 2026, 08:01

Finally got time to make a little video about my project.

This watch is my tribute to Roger Riehl’s iconic solar-powered LED watch, the Synchronar, a design that has always stood out to me as one of the most original and technically fascinating digital watches ever made. In this version, I wanted to stay true to the spirit of the original while also adding some practical functions that make it more versatile for everyday use.

The watch includes selectable daylight saving time settings for Europe, the United States, or OFF, along with a built-in chronograph, dual time zones, user-adjustable time trim for fine regulation, and a selectable 12/24-hour display format. Alarm- flashing display. It also features automatic ambient light compensation, so the display becomes brighter in strong sunlight and dimmer in darker surroundings, improving both visibility and efficiency.

The overall idea was to preserve the distinctive feel and character that made the Synchronar so special, while introducing a few carefully chosen additions that fit naturally with the concept and do not take away from its original identity.

Must add another video with Alarm feature.

Thank you gjlelec I had a lot of fun making it.

and I also realized I forgot to mention something earlier. As part of the Synchronar MK4 development, there’s also a side project involving new Pulsar P3 modules (same for Omega and hamilton a like) . They include a built-in light sensor, the traditional back-magnet setting method like the originals, and some newer additions such as AutoSet features. Thinking to add same calendar features with year set as I made the Synchronar MK4.

Will post video of the P3 module working here as well.
