Cell changeout

Post26 Nov 2017, 02:40

I recently had to change the v80’s on my original mk II that I bought new in 1975. The ones in there I installed in 2008. :-D Wouldn’t hold a charge anymore. Working fine now. All the rest is original. Peter

10 years aint bad Peter :mega: .
This is why I always seal them with silicon. Seals well, but can be reversed very easily.

V80s sure are a tight fit. I've generally used V40s, but recently squeezed V80s into a MkI that had failed.
I timed it up on my Vibrograf to 0.1s/day too. I think this'll be my daily wearer for a while.
Rgds,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew, yeah it is a tight fit. I use a flat bottom burr in my flexshaft tool to make the cell compartments deeper and a little larger in the red bottoms. That seems to give enough clearance. I have one with v40s that has been going 8+ yrs. Peter
