Compu Chron Calculator

Post22 Sep 2005, 22:51

Hello

I have a Compu Chron Calculator watch, Gold color.

Its in good condition , doesnt work , after I put batteries in it some leds flicker.

There are 3 side buttons and 2 are missing, are there any available ?

The electonics inside are clean and free from battery leakage and I see no reason for it not to work.

I will sell it on ebay if some of you will advise me on its worth at present.

Pictures of it can be seen at

http://photoed.digitalphotochat.com/CompuChron?page=1

Thanks for your advice / Ed

As you say its flickering it sounds like a contact problem.

try scratching a bit on the contacts and if that doesnt help then put some tin foil between batteries and backplate.

Oh and is there a button missing?

A working one in good condition without box and papers can reach up to 400 bucks sometimes, a broken one would probably get you less than 100 bucks.

Thanks for your help Fronzelneekburm

There are actually 2 buttons missing
but
I have an opportunity to get an empty curved case with buttons but no electronics, this would avail me buttons maybe

4 questions now:
1 would the buttons from the curvy case fit in this squared case?
2 would these electronics fit in the curvy case ?
3 how much more is it worth with all the buttons and still flickering?
4 is it worth more in the curvy case ?

Thanks / Ed :?:

There is another design of these?

I never noticed, I thought they all look like these:

http://www.vintagecalculators.com/html/ ... watch.html

Is that "curvy" design looking much different? Well it will bring probably a few more bucks than the one with missing buttons. As its both compuchron I assume the buttons should fit in both watches.

Hello
Fronzelneekburm

I plan to put this calculator watch on ebay as is.

I will sell it, as said in my first post, for aobut $100 as per your guidance.

Thank you ever so much for your thoughts.

I have a lot of calculators as well, mostly HP and other RPN calculators but as most of you have no doubt collected some of every kind of calculator.

Sincerely / Ed Edcetera

Be sure to post the link to your ebay auction here when you have set it up.

Make some pics of the display lit and mention that its flickering and you got no idea whats wrong. That always encourages people to bid as it could maybe only be a contact problem. Good luck!

Hello
Fronzelneekburm

I think that I cant get it to work good enough to take photos of it partially lit, and so Im selling it "as is" as seen in those photos

I will sell it "as shown for parts or repair"

Thanks for your advice, and I will post here when I make an ad on ebay.

Sincerely / Ed Edcetera

Hi Ed,

Interesting. What companies other than Hewlett Packard produced RPN calculators? I was under the impression that HP was the only one!

Yes, I am one of the many who can only use RPN.....and the vintage scientific models are becoming rarites!
