Update. Muesuem MK I donation still going.

Post09 May 2007, 03:59

Well I finaly signed the donors paperwork and made it official. The 33 year +Synchronar with original seal and batteries I donated last summer was not officially documented due to some clauses in the gift. In any event as of 2 weeks ago it still works :D .I cannot use the name of the muesuem as they honorably do not participate in public debate about the items they have.I will say that a new book about the proven history of Electronic watches based on documented proof will be forthcoming.

What kind of museum doesnt want people to debate their exhibits? Is it a museum for secret agents?

We were told HERE last summer, that you donated it to the Smithsonian... you made a big deal about how a lady came and picked it up, and how you could have given them a broken one, since nobody will ever use it. I just had a great idea for anyone with a broken Synchronar...find a local museum that will let you donate it for a tax write-off. :)

Now there is an idea of what to do with your broken watches Ed.
Meanwhile I will assemble complete watches from new parts that you don't have.I have respect for the muesuem and they do not participate in endorsing items or like their name used for advertising a namebrand like someone else once did here.It is OK to annouce that I have made the donation and I will leave it at that.Nothing on display yet Phil, that may come later.Over 90% of the items at the muesuem are not on display.

You can do that in the states? I gave an Indian Medicine bag to the National Museum last summer and it was worth serious money. The only other similar one which had been sold was a not nearly as nice one for $5000. I hate the Inland Revenue.

Sorry for the interruption. Back to the tennis match :P

OK, let me summarise here:

1. Howards Dad was a genius who produced the Worlds first solar powered watch, on a shoestring budget.

2. There has been claims for many years that it was the first digital watch and pre-dates the 'recognised' first digital watch, developed by a team for Hamilton and J Bergey.

3. Howard had proof of this in the form of paperwork and a working watch - which was given to the Smithsonian in June 2006 See here http://www.dwf.nu/viewtopic.php?t=1417&start=15

Back to documentation for the common interest. the Smithsonian visit went well and they will have some answers on Horolgy for anyone interestred in contacting them about the invention and achievement of the most advanced Watch, THE SYNCHRONAR!
NEW NOTE: Pease allow 10 more days for the Smithsonian to register my donation and then people can call for info on some of the Synchronar history.

4. Now it turns out that it wasnt the Smithsonian after all and who ever has got this superbly interesting item and ephemera doesnt want anyone to know about it.

OK, I hope thats brought everyone up to date and cleared up any grey areas
