? Do you expect batteries in a watch sold as "working&q

An ebay seller recently contacted me to make a private sales pitch...I balked because I felt their last/previous sale to me was b.s. - I get a watch that was SHOWN working, but it comes with the batteries out, and totally dead and unfixable. I suspect a module switch was made, figuring I would just absorb this loss and they can basically sell the module again. I personally think it is a load of crap to send out a "worker" without batteries. Thoughts?

As a buyer of watches in various states of working condition if they are shown to be fully working I except them to at least show some kind of life once I get them, occasionally I've had them delivered without batteries and if I find they are completely dead with the module clearly damaged due to someone hacking at it or its got the blue death the seller gets the wrath and threatened with negative feedback unless I'am compensated for a wrongly described item.

But you have to be very careful as most LED's sold on Ebay are sold as is then there is no comeback what so ever you have to accept the hit and that's it...

Generally I agree, and if you've looked at many of my auctions you've seen that I always include the batteries, but it depends on how much the watch is worth. I just sold a working plastic TI for just under $10 without batteries. It wouldn't make sense to include $2.00 worth of batteries (some people pay more) in a watch of that value and still have eBay take their share. There wouldn't be much of a profit margin. But again, on more valuable watches I see it as an insentive for people to buy the watch and a courtesy to the winning bidder.

If I bought a watch for a low price (like notonly1's T.I. example) I wouldn't be upset. But if I bought a watch at $50 or more I'd expect the batteries to be in there. A Pulsar or similar priced watch - it really has to be in the watch!

Thanks guys - just wanted a reality check. The watch was sold as working in the "just under $100" price range.....not some $10 mystery piece(I've bought thousands of those). I am assuming it was a intentional screw-job, which is why the batteries were not in it. I mean, hell, they were in it for the auction, why take them out?

That's probably it Ed. By the way - was it insured? I'm thinking the seller didn't offer that option. How convenient.

If you paid for it thru PayPal, you should have some recourse that way.

I don't know... the seller may try to weasel out of it by saying they didn't specifically state that the batteries would be included. What recourse would the buyer have to that? Not much I imagine..
