Pulsar 3502-2 Sport model And Thank You to the community

Post26 Feb 2008, 00:09

Hey guys,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, I've never asked for or owned a Pulsar before. I think I would like to try a real Pulsar out by going with a common model that seems pretty robust.

So here goes... Anyone out there have the Pulsar 3502-2 model with Pulsar logo on the case for sale? Please let me know. A certain Ebay sellers seemingly endless supply seems to have... ended

Thanks Guys :-D

Almighty - don't want to steer you away from the Sport, because it is a very nice watch and seemingly very robust - I've worked on lots of Pulsar models, but only one Sport? If you think about what consitutes "common" (per your criteria), a P2 would be my suggestion - the glass is the easiest to get(either P2 glass or P3 with the logo will work), the same module was in Hamiltons and Omegas so the number of donors is great and you can even put in a P3 module in a pinch - granted that is a waste of it's date feature. And if your timepiece ever goes dead and you can't find a module, someone can "Frankenstien your P2(or P3) - the module inside of the Sport is comparitively tiny and thin and the buttons are touch type. Not much hope of working in that limited space, with the electrical requirements of the touch buttons. If you are really tall(like your name might lead one to think), you certainly understand the need for headroom whilst working. :-P

Sorry for being so long - my $.02 8-)

retroleds,

Don't apologize for giving out good advice my friend :-)

Thank you for the great suggestions, one of the problems of my 7 foot height (besides finding head room  ) is that I also have a rather light frame, the Pulsar P2 is actually pretty large compared to my wrist size. The Sport is smaller, but I think it would look better on my small wrists. I'm also attracted to the touch command and DOW feature I have to admit :-)

The Wittnauer Polara I have seems to be the perfect size for my wrist, so it's one of the factors that I considered when looking for a Pulsar that would also fit me better.

For your size comparision:
Men's Dress 33mm wide, P2 40mm, Classic Witt.35, P3 40mm. I'd guess the Sport is almost exactly the same width as the Witt., no wider.
And yes, that P3 is a Frankenstiened one - all are repairs from the last few days.

Thanks for the size comparison photo retroleds, The P2 doesn't seem as large as I was thinking going from the pics. The dress model and the Wittnauer is more my size I think.

What do you guys think of the Pulsar P4 "Classic" with the separate DOW feature? I've had my eye on that model for awile, but still reluctant to dive in on one. Is there any way to repair one if something should happen? And how big is the P4?

Just an update,

It was a hard decision with so many friends of this community helping out with great info and good offers, plust giving helpful information based on years of experience, but I finally got a Pulsar Sport 3502-2. :-)

Wow! Now I know what it must be like for some here to get that package with a Pulsar watch in it. There really is a difference in one's expectations.

I've got a feeling this is going to be another addiction to my hobby, going for more Pulsar's in the future

Just wanted to say thank you all so much for the help and great advice, I am not dissapointed with this watch and look forward to purchasing again from this community in the future from now on.

hey,

please tell us where you got that Sport? barbie9 is out of stock after all these years so the chance of buying one will be smaller and smaller unless he finds one or two forgotten pieces.

these will be outdated by now as you already have the Sport, but here are some pics for size comparison:

Ta much, another one to hunt down. Like Bruce said once, it's just the beginning of an obsession. Watch out Almighty, you're on the edge of a precipice and it's crumbling (imagine Wylie E Coyote scrabbling and you're about right ;-) )

Hello All,

I have a Brand NOS Pulsar Sport from Barbie, just got it, maybe 2-3 months ago, at most. I have sat on it, in Box, to save as a collectable. I wear a Bulova for everyday wear. I am willing to sell this watch if anyone is interested. It has all the parts just as sold by Barbie. I am in New Jersey.

Thanks, Ray
