Purchased a guaranteed dead Synchronar and left it......

Post23 Apr 2008, 20:49

by the bedside table. Left it there because I have already opened one Sunwatch which was completely rotted and unsalvageable except for the case, strap and magnetic slides.

There it sat while I thought of ways to open it up. It sat for about 3 months, right beside the Mark IV Howard made for me! It sat and sat and yesterday after sketching a jig to hold the module the correct distance from a cutting blade on my Dremel I picked it up. It appears to be in excellent condition with a Mark III module and slanted LED, of course it is not working so I could only assume it is a Mark III. The case is pitted gold plate and I thought about removing the plating and having a spare case.

Back to the story, I picked it up after it sat for 3 months and was looking at it when I thought, lets try it again with a small bar magnet.

IT WORKS, no bad segments and at the moment it charges enough to get it through the night and still display on command.

Now the question is, do i mess with it and replace the batteries or leave it for awhile?

Well the case is going to get replated in gold and a non pitted strap will be secured.

What a treat!!!!

Cheers, Geoff

Hi Geoff,

A good few weeks have passed and I am just wondering what happened with the watch.

Is it continuing to hold charge or did you end up opening it up to replace the cells :?:

Was the Dremel rig made :?:

Just curious :-)

Regards Mick
