Recharging Synchronar Magnet

Post16 Jun 2008, 14:46

Hi All.
I've read in a few posts some references to recharging magnets, but I can't find any step by step procedures. Can anyone help please ?

Rgds,
Andrew.

Thanks Jeff.
Did you just drag it once, or many times ?
I assume you have to do it in a particular direction, with some reference to the magnetic fields.

I have a strong magnet from a hard drive, but it's basically a flat plate(stuck to a larger flat plate). I think the top of the plate would be one pole, and the bottom of the plate the opposite pole. The little rod magnet would just stick perpendicularly to it. Do you think if I just stood it in place and left it, it'd strengthen ? I can't picture how I could drag this type of magnet.

Tks&Rgds,
Andrew.

Yes the magnets can be recharged, just as has been discussed at other posts that may or may not have been deleted. Follow the direction of JT.We are talking about ALNICO BAR MAGNETS as first surmissed by JT. They can be falsly charged on one pole to a degree that is too strong!! I was mistaken in the past when i said there was no way to "Overcharge" them.
It takes special equipment to properly charge a Synchronar magnet(although pot luck can be found using other means). They come in long bars that must be cut to length and then charged using a high powered magnet here at the facility.

Otherwise you wind up with a magnet that lasts only a few months/years instead of 20+ that makes things switch right.

Thanks Jeff and Howard.
I'll give it a try.
I've been having trouble with the module, so still haven't got it permanently in the case yet. Finally I discovered the 22M resistor was flakey. I've replaced it and it's now running well again.
I want to leave it on stability for a while before sealing it up in the case.

Rgds,
Andrew.
