Post21 Mar 2010, 18:46

Hey DWF crew. How are things? It has been a while since I dropped by.

You may know that LEDWatchStop features the largest selection of modern and Retro revival 70s Style LED watches on the planet. We are the LED Watch Superstore.

Lately we have been enjoying some social media experiments. Our twitter site has over 48,000 followers! Our youtube videos have been viewed by hundreds of thousands.

Sometimes we (I) get a little crazy and we (I) want to give away a watch.

Please join our new FaceBook site for chance to win your favorite! We'll give away a watch when we reach 500 fans! http://bit.ly/9VnM4C

Cheers!

thats a great offer troy but i think the allure of the modern led watch has finished, especially the ones that maintain the same price range that were around a few years ago. 13,000+ led watches are now availaible on ebay for as little as 0.01gbp + postage.

just my 2 cents...

you can freely reply to my comment, let me know what you think? have you noticed a change in sales since the market has been flooded with cheaper watches?

Great feedback. Actually...the flood of cheap LED watches is driving an interest that promotes the awareness LEDS. There are approximately 10,000 watches available under the search "LED Watch" on ebay. If you browse them you will find that a huge percent are hybrid analog, EL or LCD. If you look further...it is clear that any modern LED only represent a limited selection that occurs in multiple listings. The same watches listed over and over. How drab. Many of these are ugly oversize 7 segment, then there are the china alloy copies of well known Japanese models (a true shame); as well as just a few unique screens and innovative time systems. We personally know the predominate factories that produce the flood of cheap LEDs and copies. But who really wants cheap LEDs (and knockoffs) from an non descript company on ebay that may or may not service well or stand behind the product. Those are not our customers. There will always be customers that want something special instead of a bargain. We have sampled and tested a lot the cheap LEDs but they have not met our standards for quality or uniqueness.

We feature watch brands that represent high quality, individuality and strength in the market place. Only brands that we can stand behind, which is something our clients appreciate.

It does not hurt that some of our brands are in thousands of stores across Europe, Asia, North America etc. Our shop is working with stores worldwide.

Regarding our sales experience? Well, we are constantly growing in selection and connnections. Each month records and goals are exceeded. If you type LED Watch into most search engines..you will find our natural result on the top of the page. Our interest and traffic is at an all time high!

All that being said. There also seems to also be an increased interest in Retro style LED watches (which is why we continue to expand our collection).

What is your take on the Vintage LED watch market? Is it stabilizing or on the rise? Should we build our Vintage category up? (I have few vintage LED watches from our beginning days (Pulsars, Hamiltons, Bulovas, Novus..etc.)....evidence of my personal passion for LEDs.

Looking forward to some great input and discussions.

Cheers!

Id be more interested in a design contest. But I don't believe you guys are actually having any watches built specifically for you. I realize that would take a huge commitment(financially) and the Chinese would probably just steal your design and flood the market with knock-offs. :x
!@@! (simulated caning).

Good to see you Troy - good luck with the contest.

HI Ed, great to connnect with you. Sure, we have designed and produced a couple of our own humble yet successful watch styles. We have also had the opportunity to help develop watches for OEM and private label clients.

I am not a real fan of public design contests because the ideas may be copied.

Are you still doing modern reviews?

Hi.

I'm a industrial designer and a huge 70's LED watch fan ( started to collect them just 3 months ago, and now have 10 watches). I would be interested to design some led watches.
I't would be so nice to combine my work and my passion.

apologies to troy.

i really must stay away from forums on a sunday night, beer night !@@!

ok, my preference is to stay away from face book and modern led watches but there really wasn`t any need for me to air that view when troy is offering the forum a chance to win something for nothing.

good luck with the competition.

LOL...beer nights can be fun. :-)

Stayed away from facebook forever myself. I am an old school guy. But over 100 million new members in 9 months is a hard thing to resist for someone who enjoys marketing and interacting.

Actually, facebook groups are a bit different than facebook social. A group is more like a forum on steroids crossed with a super dynamic blog. Members can comment, start discussion threads, upload videos, pics, links, youtubes, rate admin additions to the main blog etc etc.. Groups can get huge so there is also a useful function to ad multiple admins for moderation.

Stop by sometime. http://bit.ly/9VnM4C - First 500 members are entered for a chance to win an LED watch. If a DWF member wins...then they can always choose a mint Commodre watch. :-)

Cheers!
