I didn't know these came in 14k ? I assumed they were all 18k.
The watch looks great 8-) . The only thing is that the band doesn't seem to fit the case very well (overhangs a bit).

Bruce, what are those extra conductors coming out from under each battery contact ?

Rgds.

I didn't notice that, my rose tinted glasses must of blurred the photo's, can't be original to the watch; can it?

The bracelet looks good to me, I think it's just the angle it's been held at, looks like the bracelet has dropped down to where the case narrows. But a P1 in 14k? :-?

the bracelet is gf not solid. even at today's gold i don't think 14k would even bring 2500 for just the case body. it's already out of my league. peter

Hmmm 3.2k, I was thinking more around 4k - 5k.

I exchanged a few emails with the seller of the P1 and he mentioned that he had been bombarded with emails from a chap in the UK who was offering him his Omega TC that he had listed on eBay for the watch, when the offer was politely declined this person became abusive and tried to give him duff information about the watch, the seller had to threaten to report him to eBay..........now I wonder who that could be?
I'm not sure but I keep getting mental images of birds, pigeons, no I think their Tits.

Hi Mick, you can see that I'm obviously a n00b

No sorry the 4k - 5k was just a wild guess, I don't have the faintest idea on value, I just though 3.2k sounded to cheap (relatively speaking) for such an historic watch.

Maybe we should have a competition, closest to the selling price wins.

What's the significance of this question that was asked about the watch?

"Hi. I have a slightly unusual 'collector geek' question about the outer Silver covered Box that goes with the unusual Pulsar that you are selling. Can you tell which of the two types of text is printed on the outside of the silver foil box ? "THE SOLID STATE DIGITAL TIME COMPUTER … THE SOLID STATE DIGITAL TIME COMPUTER … " (etc, repeated without breaks right around all four sides of the box) OR, "THE SOLID STATE TIME COMPUTER (R)" (printed Once per side of the box, and not end to end repeatedly). Thanks in advance, Brett."

I believe "THE SOLID STATE DIGITAL TIME COMPUTER" text is the correct box for the P1. I could be wrong, though. We need an expert to chime in. :-D

Outstanding estimate of auction finish, LEDluvr...spot on!
And where have I been...? Out with a very sick computer, but
believe me, I've been studying every pixel of the auction photos, and a couple additional ones the seller sent me, for the past week, and I can tell you, with absolute, positive certainty, that this is NOT a prototype or salesman's sample, but a full-fledged, production watch. First, we have a solid gold, rather than base-metal, case. Then, the fineness stamp, and most importantly, a serial number. It is noteworthy that this number differs significantly from the 18K version, starting with 305 rather than 754, but has the commonality of having a "P" prefix. The samples had no case markings whatsoever. I am inclined to doubt the serial number has any special significance, but it's a good bet they did NOT make 602 of these (conversely, I doubt they made only two!). Like the 18K version, where the serial numbers of a run of 400 watches span a range considerably greater than 400, something similar may apply here. The bracelet also has a singular feature; it looks like a P2, but, if you look at the link that joins the bracelet to the case, from the side, you can see that there are no holes for the threaded pin that is used on the P2. Rather, it is joined exactly like the 18K bracelet...with a springpin, on the underside. In other words, this is a goldfilled version of the 18K bracelet; a P2 bracelet cannot be attached to this watch. I cannot imagine that this watch did not leave the Lancaster facility as we see it; it is totally original (the exotic-shaped, GF magnet cover argues strongly in favor of that). This goldfilled-bracelet-on-a-solid-gold-case is not unprecedented; it was done on two other Pulsar models...the 2975 P2, and the 3115 Date/Command. I could be convinced that this was a special-order, short-run, low-end version of the P1, but still, a production watch, and not a prototype. Until another specimen comes to light, the potential for speculation is limitless. If there is another example of the P1 in 14K, I have never heard a whisper of it. Not to say that others don't exist (it seems unlikely this is a unique watch), but if they do, they are well-hidden. I suspect this will renew speculation about the possible existance of solid 14K calculators, or other models, such as the Sport, Big Time, or Classic, which are not currently known in solid gold. Oh, and yes, the inner and outer boxes are correct, as well as the matching-serial-numbered warranty card. I would also guess the booklet is a standard P1 Owners' Manual.

Hey Bruce, here's further proof of 14k P1s:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/RARE-14k-SG-PULS ... Watches_GL

I saw these on Ebay a while ago and suggested to Abe he might like to get them for his P1, without really thinking about them being 14k.
Rgds,
Andrew.

A few additional thoughts inspired by a question on the "other" Forum...
It's certainly an Owners' manual, so I would assume it's identical to the one I have (I would think all the Owners' Manuals were printed in a single run, probably 500 copies...400 for the 18K watches, maybe 65 for the Sample watches, and 35 just to make it a nice round number...if the manual with this watch refers to it as 14K, rather than 18K, it would mean there were two printings; I think that is unlikely). Actually, doesn't look all that battered to me; just a little wear around the edges of the front cover. Overall, this kit looks pretty pristine (except maybe for the raised dimple in the metal case insert, right next to the "R" in PULSAR...I can't figure out how that was done...clearly, the insert had to be out of the box when that happened, and I can't help but wonder why it was removed). I doubt this was worn long enough to need a single battery change (the originals are probably still in there, which would account for the non-working condition); I note a conspicuous lack of deformation of the slots in the battery covers. Looks like this was worn briefly and carefully, then stored away (and probably forgotten...another melt-holocaust survivor) for more than a third of a century (the date code on the bracelet clasp...6-72...gives some clue as to when this was put together); I'd give a lot to know the name connected with this watch. But, the idea that it was a special-order item is gaining traction, in my opinion, anyway. The crystal looks standard; the sample cases are fitted with a flat one, like the Sport...if I had to make a bet, my money would be on sapphire. And, while some of the pics seem to have been taken outside (I think we're seeing patio tile in the background on at least five of the images), unfortunately, none of them catch it at the right angle to get the blue-glint effect, so we can't know for sure. One thing is for sure, though; this single watch writes another new page in the Time Computer/Pulsar history book. Others may ultimately surface, but this will always be the first. Last thing I was wondering is....if the 18K version is the 2800, what model number is this watch (or the possible variation with a solid 14K bracelet)? This inquiring mind sure wants to know....
