My vote is for silver epoxy. Not too late to edit your post to include a poll. :-)

I'll admit, I'm confused by what you meant by "wire glue"....edify me and I'll try to set the post right in the morning(here :-) ), complete with a poll.

hi ed.

this is the wire glue i was looking at:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Glue-Conductive-W ... 35b03c910f

and this is the silver epoxy that i have now ordered:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Silver-Epoxy-Kit- ... 413de5ad31

i was tempted by the considerable price difference but went with your recommendation.

thank you.

Hi F.E.AR,
This wire glue looks very promising. I like the fact that it's a glue and not an epoxy that has to be mixed. According to their website, it also appears that it remains flexible, which most silver epoxies do not (although there are flexilbe silver epoxies available, they're hard to find). I have a Hughes calc. ribbon connector that I need to fix. This sounds like it would be ideal. If it conducts as well as they say, it might be better that silver epoxy. I think I'll probably get some and try it out. We'll see. Thanks. :-D

Wire glue is pretty much useless for watch work- far too "globby", seems to be a PVA base with Carbon dust filler (to give conductivity). Works fine on normal size circuitry and good for attaching wires to low/medium current batteries you don't fancy soldering.

Silver epoxy or Silver PCB trace repair paint both work well for rebonding wires- Silver epoxy probably better as it has reasonable mechanical strength which the trace repair stuff doesn't (although I have never had a TR rebond fail). Up to you which you prefer- Silver epoxy has a much longer working time compared to TR paint (solvent based and at the tiny sizes involved the solvent is soon gone).

update:

i have now ordered the wire glue as well as the epoxy, its only a few dollars/pounds so worth a go.

i will do a comparison test on both products (nothing technical, just if its good or bad) and report back.

thank you notonly1 and old tom for your input.

hi.

the wire glue does not work, the bonding process was easy enough but it doesnt conduct. probably not enough carbon in the tiny spot that i used.

havnt received the epoxy yet but if ed says its good, thats good enough for me. i`ll do my repair job properly when it arrives.

thanks.
