Elgin Optel LCD arrives

Post16 Mar 2011, 21:53

Just had to show it.
My new gold plate Elgin, not to everyones taste but I love it.
Eds helped me out with a couple of extra links.(thanks Ed). Which I would never have been able to source myself.
Its a beast of a watch with I think an optel module. The same I think that was recently discussed in another thread about a Sandoz with the buttons on the caseback for setting.

Anybody know anything else about it i'd love to know more.

Very cool. I was kicking myself for missing this one. These old LCD watches go for very little these days (wasn't this one around $40).

I'm glad to see that it went to a good and appreciative home.

Yes I was gobsmacked. I asked if he had a buy it now and he said if you want it $40, I have already added the buy it now. Good day on Ebay I thought.
Its my most unusual cased 70s watch in really nice condition.

Ah, those annoying little e-clips. Actually- they only become annoying when you are trying to re-intall them and the go flying away! Luckily I was able to harvest them off an old Seiko front-button watch but I discovered that the much cheaper Timex front button Iron Man watches from the 80's and early 90's use the same size clips. Just FYI in case anyone needs to find more.......
