electronic devices have a mind of their own.
Even when somebody gives it a try with a dead module and they jump back to life, including a quartz replacement, and they are then sent as working...such modules might die out before arrival.
Judging by your story you were happy with earlier services hence I would not suddenly become disappointed with such an occurance with 3 Uranus modules. The late ones were not top quality unlike the early ones.
You can always ask some guys in Europe to help you out but don't expect miracles. I understand that once a positive repair message has been sent it might be a surprise for a repaired module to arrive as non-working.
That's life especially if you collect electronic devices, they will not last forever so diversify your portfolio while you can :)
Thank you Piotr - this was my very dilemma. Many don't understand that none of us can go in there and work on the actual "Brain"(IC) of a module, really just all the supporting bits around it. WHich often amounts to quite a bit, depending on the particular design. In a Pulsar we have segment display transistors, light sensor, quartz crystal, reed switches and the entire display that can be removed/replaced. In a brand like the Uranus everything is made part of the board - not many repair options. The original poster was also disappointed that I backed out of Frankensteining one of the Uranus' for him - I made the promise before having a case in hand. I thought it was more professional to beg off the work if my heart wasn't in it, for whatever reason. Then getting lambasted 6-7 weeks
later - whatever.

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.
