New SEIKO M159 5059 Movement Arrived

Today my SEIKO M159 5059 (SS ver) arrived. After having somewhat of a struggle opening the case, I saw that the movement looks very good. There was an old "Ray-O-Vac" battery that was lying around in the battery compartment, but was obviously dead as a doornail.

I will try replacing this movement with my other SEIKO M159 5059 watch with the broken LCD panel.

From the picture I uploaded, you can see what was wrong with this watch. The "Stem" was broken off on the watch case! I am not sure what happened or how it got broke off, but it looks almost like the stem was pulled out, and then broken downward! really strange, or is it strange? Does anyone know if there is a problem with stems breaking off easily with the SEIKO M159 5059?

I did test this new movement, and see that the Polarizer works just fine. All segments light up just fine. Originally, I was going to unscrew the screws from the LCD pant and transplant them to my other movement, but I decided against this because it does seem like this movement works fine.

Anyway,

Thanks toy for listening.

Patrick:
Mercifully the stem is easy to remove - as you undoubtedly know. The little lever directly above the stem is pushed toward the front, gently - stem pulls out. They get bent but not usually broken. Someone probably got frustrated trying to get it out of the case. :x

Yeah, super easy to remove, however the part that you push screws onto the part you can see, thus making the complete crown and stem unit. Possibly the pushy part has come unsrewn and got lost?

The "CAP" pushy part of the stem was missing from the start. I bought it this way. I am not sure how the stem was unscrewn or broke, but I think the "FLAT" lever next to it pushes down and a new stem can be inserted.

That is what the manual said for this model anyway.

Yes, that is correct. I think Retroleds mentioned that in his reply to your first post
