How much does it weigh, 4 ounces including strap, just guessing? If so than paying for more than the gold value. Also 18kt is only 75% gold so multiply weight by .75 to get gold value.

Really, how much do they weigh, can't weigh my ss version as I don't have a fine enough scale.

As stated by an expert on another forum weigth without module, glass etc (only the gold) is 118 grams, that at the actual quotation of the gold on the market today makes one third of the asking price.

Here's another one, just up on eBay; item No. 251010550888. Was up about a year ago...hasn't been worked on; still has the dents and wrong crystal. Starts at US$6800, about 40% over the melt value; almost on the ragged edge of reasonableness, if it weren't for the cosmetic problems. Japanese seller...is this the guy who got all the Johannesburg Pulsar Service Center material? Anybody know him? Also, checked with thebeautifulwatch outfit...he quoted me 10.000 Euro...good luck with that!

how can you have in the hands a watch like that and not restore it?i am suffering seiing it in thoose conditions..
Bruce for the other one they quoted 200 euros more than me!!maybe because the value of gold is increasing..if we wait a wile maybe they arrive to 150000..

Personally, I could not. But, this is a very rare and valuable piece, and repairs of this sort are, frankly, beyond the capability of most collectors. Myself, I have taken worse dents out of 18K Calculators, 18k P3s, and a couple P1s, so, I think I could handle it. If I had, say, $6K, I would make the offer, and hopefully get it into corrective surgery. Of couse, after it was restored, it would be an 8-9K$ watch, but it would once again be as perfect as the day it left the Omega factory. The one I have I re-assembled out of pieces that had been taken apart to get an accurate gold weight. Basically, I got a box of parts that had been knocking about for who knows how long, no module, no glass. I'm sure I spent at least 50 hours on the reconstruction, topping it off with a mint Omega crystal. There might be an example or two in equal condition, but I can't imagine there could be one better (I don't even handle it any more with bare hands...seriously, I wear cotton gloves to keep from leaving hairline scratches in the finish; 18K gold is that soft, and your hands really are that abrasive!). High-carat gold is really pretty, but it doesn't make a very durable watchcase...If anyone is interested to see it, I could put up a few pics. Amazingly enough, the all-stainless version of the TC1 may actually be rarer...only 6 of those versus the 8 or 9 in 18K.

Here are a few. Next to the P1, 3140 Date/Command, and 18K Executive, this is my favorite LED...
Bear in mind, this watch started out in bits and pieces, but I think you'll agree, it was time well spent...

Interesting, because the same watch seems to be for sale already for while on the auction sites of Yahoo Japan where bids did not meet reserve as they went not much higher than scrap value.
I am curious how he will manage to duplicate his Omega if he sells them both... ~:(
That may require some future technology I'd love to apply on my collection too M:)W:)M

Maybe he has two of them...wouldn't be the first collector to achieve that! No, it's the same watch; I think he'd just end one auction or the other to take the higher bid. What's most likely is this will go unsold again, and disappear for another year or two. A shame; this watch cries out to rescued and restored, but, unfortunately, it's not my call to make, and he can do with it as he sees fit. Hopefully, next time it surfaces, I'll be in a better position to make it mine.

Re: Omega TC1 18K for sale!!!

Hi all,

Interesting watch, I notice in his description he does not specify whether the watch is working or otherwise, in addition no pictures of numerals shown? also crystal does not appear correct, the Omega Logo and lettering I would have figured would be in gold. Considering the above buying this watch is like flying on instruments. His description of the watch is rubbish minimum of information.
The guy is quoting a figure of E9800 or £8207.07 or $12,860.89 this is exceptionally high considering the following:

The latest gold prices in the U.K. are 18K 75% purity £26.34 per gram, another member figured that the weight of gold in this watch to be 118 Grams. therefore the gold is worth at current market price £3108.12 or $4078.90 so the price this guy is quoting if astronomical.Other than scrap price, would one of the experts please give a fair market value on this watch, assuming the watch was perfect if either you intend to wear it or hoard it away?

I think my figures are correct, but you are welcome to check/correct them.

Regards.
KARNAK.

Hi Bucko,

Thanks for that, fixed up the watch obviously is very valuable, however if I had to wear gloves to handle it, normal wear would be out of the question for my use, the old Casio I use as an everyday watch is not safe around me.Checked your collection, very nice collection of watches indeed.
Thank you,

KARNAK.

I like to wear all the watches I have but I take great care with the really special ones, this one would also make me too nervous to wear it and feel comfortable ~:(

Hi Lucamd11,

After reading your post on reflection maybee you have the right attitute as far as watches go. Unfortunately with me if I wear one of my good watches no matter how I try I always seem to end up with a scratch or scuff here on there, I guess a good word would be clumsy springs to mind.
Sitting by the river sounds good to me, sorry am I reading you correctly did you a buy an Omega TC1? 18K if you did my friend very best of luck/success with it and enjoy wearing it .
