Really nice find!!

If your goal is a DSM, then your well on your way. :D

Even if not perfect, they are very nice watches which I found keep really good time.

This is one of mine, same module as yours I think, just a DSM instead.

wow, awesome looking watch
I'm hoping to get one of those once. It's relatively easy to get one if you have 680 euro's to spend: http://www.digitalwatches.de/
Not a bad price for such an watch, but the goal is to get it cheap :)

Hehe, all the better if you can get it cheaper. I didn't know the prices went up like that. Geez, 680 Euro, that's over $800 USD!!!

rarity will do that. Look at Seiko lcd's and their rising in value.

Rarity might kill your budget one day.
All electronic devices will die one day....especially DSM displays that will loose vacuum over time:

That is the one unfortunate downside to our hobby. While they work, I feel it's best to enjoy them, take photos, and catalog them as best we can. Perhaps someday people will be able to remake the old modules or repair the ones we have.

Nah. In a few years we'll all be dead and people will collect Seiko E-ink watches and antique smart phones.

The DSM's might be consigned to history one day but I am sure Hanno will be able to keep at least some of the LED watches going for many a good year yet with his SASM modules. :-D

lol, you're right dutchsiberia, that's too true about how collectables work. bucko's right too, I seem to remember some guys a few years back that were pretty handy with a microscope and soldering tools that could revive some of the LED's. Plus having a stockpile of modules doesn't hurt either. :D

Funny you mentioned the Seiko E-ink's, I've wanted one of those for years now, but just coudn't justify the price tag. I entertained the idea of trading some of my DSM's and LED's for one, but never got around to it.

I took a quick look at the watch and it's not a contact issue :( I slid the cover away with extreme caution. I slid away quite easy, revealing a cracked lower left corner  There is more damage to the edges of the display, but those didn't interrupt any contact points. The cracked corner has unfortunately broken most contact points of the most right digit :(

check the picture I posted above, cracked glass displays might sometimes be repaired by either gluing the broken piece and then applying a conductive trace with silver epoxy. if the broken glass corner is missing you might also try to recreate it with some epoxy and then apply silver epoxy.

Yes I saw the picture, I was thinking to try something like that, the display is complete, so it might work :) Do you have any recommendations regarding glue and silver epoxy?

any good quality a+b epoxy will do and there are quite a few silver glues to choose from, I'm using a local producer that is not available abroad.
