From a technical point of view the HP 5082-7000 displays are even more interesting than the P1. I bet the display ends over 600USD, probably 750.-. Apearantly the seller has no idea as he took the photo upside down. The display has never been used in a P1 - instead Electro-Data used custom built types of the 5082-7000 on their 44 chip modules, which could be seen in the Caarson show when the six Hamilton Prototype watches were shown.

From my point of view the listed P1 is in very good shape and it´s even more interesting for collectors in that it is sold with box and papers.

You have barely half of them listed here. I own seven of the listed ones, plus number 612. The one currently on eBay, if my guess is right, is the highest serial number, and the last 18K P1 made (and, only the boxes will allow this to go significantly over "melt" value). Known serials now span 427 (lowest, 223, highest, 650), making it impossible that "only 400 were made". And let's not forget the one-of-a-kind P1 in 14K solid gold, with its' unique serial P305602 (I am certain now that 65 14K P1s WERE produced, but so far, we have just the single survivor). The number of "salesman's samples" (in 18K goldplate on base metal) remains unknown. Unfortunately, persistent paranoia about owning a P1 has kept many owners from publicly revealing the existence of their watch, so making an exact count impossible to compile (a situation I find intolerable, and that future collectors will find incomprehensible). Most P1s are owned individually; legend has it that another collector has seven...my best guess is that the known pool of P1s is held by about 30 people, worldwide.

Hello Bruce,

thanks for the information. I cannot imagine that anyone else (except you) has more than three watches. Maybe some owners are willing to share their serials in this forum so that we get a better overview which watch is still alive. I will keep the posting above updated, but I know it´s far from complete.

Known serials now span 427 (lowest, 223, highest, 650), making it impossible that "only 400 were made".
(Very) Simple math: We have watches from 223 to 650 and your guess is that 650 is the highest serial. Now add 427 watches (serials span) and 23 (serial 200 - 223) and you have.... 450!

Conclusion: 450 were made, with serials from 200 to 650.
