Holy smoking!

Post08 Oct 2013, 00:58

Holy smoking ! :pimp:

Yes, I still smoke. And recently I came across this beautiful high quality stainless steel Seiko Quartz lighter, straight from the mighty seventies! Its beautifully build and its only 5mm thick.

I was wearing the Pan Am today and thought it would make a nice match (also with the greened engraved letters on the lighter)

It came with the watch (Z 197)
Havent seen it on this model before though, so a possibility its not original to the M158. Makes a great match though, almost say its made for it..

When placing a battery it drops to Tokyo time instead of 0 GMT. Could be normal to the movement (no experience with others) But might be a domestic model ?

Thanks. I believe (what I remember) I set it by first checking my time zone by pushing the middle button and then pulling the crown and set time, after that it remembers the selected zone.
Im curious about the bracelet, thanks in advance

That's a cool lighter and one of my favorite Seiko's. I packed in smoking cigarettes years ago but I still carry a lighter. Bloke jewelry - just like digital watches :-D

I've been through the entire 1979 and 1980 quartz casing book with no results on a z197
there is a Z199 on my 7548 but that's as close as I get
still have the mechanical books to check but I'll leave that for another long train journey :)

Thanks for the efforts Seiko kid!
A few days ago I came across some pictures of the Seiko A031 with a similar looking bracelet, but that's a Z124..
Well, lets leave it and hold the mystery alive ;) Its a beautiful match with the m158

Digibloke, that's a fantastic picture, thanks a lot !

I understand what you mean. The A031 has rounded links, I think it is similar to the T001 also
