Seiko A031-5019 restored

Post23 Oct 2013, 03:06

Hello digital friends,

I recently listed a thread in the technical part of the forum about a pusher mod / restoration ( viewtopic.php?f=65&t=6765 )

Kasper asked me to post a final result and as i'm very pleased with the final result i'm sharing this here

The watch was véry used, a lot of usage marks, scratches, pits etc. Actually the worst looking case ive been working on since a long time.
I restored the case with respect to its original shape, most scratches were sanded, a few pits and deep scratches were left. Scratches and pits on brushed parts were removed as well as possible and the brush was restored with the correct grain,
Case back was restored, the battery hatch was sunbursted again,
And off course the pushers were restored and finished with their sunburst,

The crystal was replaced with a NOS one. The non-Seiko bracelet was replaced by a period matching Seiko bracelet that I (personally) think is a better match compared to the original when this first Seiko with alarm was manufactured in 1977,

Here are a few before and after pictures, note the sunburst on the pushers :!:

I agree, that really is a good restoration. And great photos too.

very impressive!!!!!
Some watches are made to last only as long as they are fashionable
Some watches, simply are not made to last
Seiko watches are designed to withstand the ravages of both time and fashion
Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way

Send me that watch Kasper. I bought a series of nos crystals for this model, and yours deserves one for sure ;) (well, maybe not for sure, but I like to help you out. Still owe you ;) )
