ELEKTRONIKA 1 Quartz Crystal question

What a bummer, my Elektronika quit working. I always thought they were indestructible, bomb proof but no.
It was keeping great time and them I wanted to wear it, push the button and voila!! the single digit.
I tried several Crystals and nothing, I plug my power supply with oscillator and it works, One crystal almost made it work momentarily.
I'm thinking it has to do with the crystal capacitance. I takes a very small crystal, does anybody have any clues what works with this watch.

As a last resort I used this tiny surface mount crystal and now it works like a champ keeping perfect time. I never thought this will work. I have about a dozen of this 32 768Hz crystals.
It fits perfect in the cramped space and is an easy solder too.

Just joined the forum today. I posted my presentation first.

And I already have a question dealing with my first LED watch which is an Elektronika 1.

I received it yesterday. All was ok but I didn't know how to set time and date. But this morning, the watch displayed only one digit and no way to display date. I think that batteries will be out when I will come back home this evening.

As I said, my knowledge of lcd/led watch technology is nothing ! I read your post and I understood that you have repaired your own but.... how ? And do you think I can do the same to fix that watch that I like so much...


Hope you could help me to solve my problem and sorry if my questions seem to be very basic.

Hi fhp92. Sorry to hear Your Elektronika 1 is giving you a headache, wonder if You got it working. If after changing batteries
cleaning all contacts with denatured alcohol and You still have one digit showing, chances are the Crystal Oscillator will bring it back to life.
I have the part that works for this module and i can help. let me know , also setting time is very easy if You need help with that let me know also. Ismael

Hi Ismael,

I want to thank you very warmly. I have cleaned all contacts with denatured alcohol as you explained. Then I changed the batteries. ... and my watch works again!!

I hope now that this watch will work for a long time because it is really a fantastic watch. I appreciate your help and proposal. It is really kind of you. Now, I believe that I have to read posts on this forum to learn more about these watches. I am waiting for a vintage LCD Elektronika. Perhaps the beginning of a subtype of watches in my collection !!!!

Glad to hear that. I agree with You The Elektronika 1 is a cool watch I use d to have 2, I sold one a week ago but still keeping one
hopefully for ever. I learned the contacts when get dirty drive the watch nuts and it has 5 for the pushers besides the ones for the battery.
I will eventually get myself a nice Elektronika LCD there are some nice one out there.
