Seiko c439

Post20 Feb 2014, 22:44

Hi again :grin1:

So I now have a seiko c439-5010.

The circuit is perfect as is the LCD. The case needs some work but is pretty good. Restoration should result in a perfect watch however, as per usual, parts!

I need the rubber keyboard gasket that sits and holds the keyboard bezel. The original is nothing but crumbly dust!

So any donors out there or parts (Seiko kid has a pm :-P

Now until I get a donor or parts I have assembled the watch without the keyboard and keys. I have tested all functions but the tech manual does not tell you how to activate the alarm, only to set it. Setting is easy, but how do I get the alarm indicator to show (ie get the alarm to be active)?

Cheers

I have the correct name for the part but no number!

"Keyboard frame"

:bang:

How does one activate the alarm, that is, how does one get the alarm icon to show? Setting is easy, but without a manual :bang:

Also the tech manual is just for the movement but does not describe how to activate the alarm. I know it has the icon showing an active alarms as it show up on the "all segment test". Also, should be a time signal according to the tech manual.

Anyone with a manual they can scan, anyone :?: :!:

Hi and thanks! I would appreciate the manual! :grin1:

Just to be clear, I have the tech manual for the c439 with the movement parts list. It does not tell you how to activate the alarm, only how to set it.

It also doesn't have the case parts list and the keyboard frame is a case part.

Cheers, Geoff

Email sent and thanks for the file :-D

P.s. Off to Sydney Australia tomorrow and will drop by my Seiko parts guy there. He has casing info and maybe some parts. Will get extra if they exist. Fingers crossed.

Hi Geoff, were you able to find the keyboard membrane for your Seiko C439A, seems like a very common problem with these models.

regards,
Robert
