Hi All.
I recently took a punt on an interesting non-working Pulse watch. It was swiss, NOS and most importantly cheap, so I thought I'd grab it.
Here's an image from the Ebay listing:

It arrived the other day, and it's quite interesting. It seems to be made by the Record watch company (this was written on the strap.....nothing really on the watch itself). There are 2 completely independant modules inside:

Each module is powered by it's own battery. The analog movement actually worked perfectly. There were no signs of life from the digital/pulse module. Notice that the pulse module has no battery housing

. It sits directly on the circuit board, and seems to be held in place by the caseback (still has the purple stuff on the back):

I took the module apart, cleaned a few areas, insulated one of the QC tracks from the zebra strip, and put some tape on the edge of the LCD panel to pack it out, and voila, it sprang to life:

Not sure exactly how it works. The pulse readings do change, but don't seem to correspond with touching the sensor area:

Anyway, I reckon it's pretty cool. I like the little heart symbol !
There's a similar on on Adam's DWL site. It's a Stanford Scientific model:
