Sometimes, keeping the Time button pressed while you engage the setting button makes a difference in what will be set...month instead of minutes...that sort of thing. Seems like every team designing a watch chip had their own notion of how it should work...

Hi all I'm back what a holiday absolutely stunning. :-) :-) :-) :-D

Now back to the problem of the Damaged Rado/Compuchron.
So I don't make a big mistake I would really appreciate all your help guys.
Now I know that something is only worth what someone would pay for it....
But if that someone was you, looking at the original Pics.
What would you have paid if it had been that way?
And also with damage and needing stripping/service.
In other words with and without the damage.
Just for the record the scratches to the case are not severe,
just annoying and quite hard to sort, and the nick in the
(irreplaceable) crystal is small but noticeable at 1 o'clock position
about 2 mm down from top. Not on edge.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Help
Thanks in advance guys I really appreciate your input before I decide
whether to keep it, or send it back which will cost $30. :bang:
If you want to pm me your prices you can. :Prost: :Prost:
:dwf: :dwf:

Sorry guys this is the best I can do.

Wow difficult to say. i'm no expert and not sure how rare it really is.
I guess i would go €199 (starting bid) to maybe 299 if indeed mint flawless.
In this condition €175 to 199....
Depending on how much i got to spend and how badly i want it for
the collection the ammounts could go a little higher,
also depends what you can do yourself to get it nice and shiney.

Except for the little nick in the crystal you can get near mint again i think?

Regards,
Cesar

Oh well sometimes you take a small risk you might get lucky or not. :grin1:
I got the Zenith Defy i paid 75€ for hoping all i had to do was pop in new batteries
and fabricate a new battery clip.
Alas it turns out battery leakage was not so bad, but water damage did more harm. :bang:
I now took it completely apart, doubt it will ever run again, but there is still hope.
The little motor connections are loose gone through corrosion and difficult to repair
Maybe someday a nice module will pop up, i will try to repair anyway.
The case and SS band are near mint...so in the end it might still work out, fingers crossed. :-?

I hope more forum members respond to your question as i am curious also.

Regards,
Cesar

It would be difficult for me to give an answer to these questions as 'that someone' would not be me because the watch does not appeal to me personally. I think the only answer is the one that you have already stated, the watch is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and the decision as to whether to keep it or send it back will be one that only the buyer can make.

The decision whether to keep or return the watch would be influenced by how much the watch lives up to expectations, if the listing did not describe these faults then you will be left feeling disappointed and you would need to consider if receiving a partial refund would compensate for this fact to the level that it would leave you feeling satisfied with your purchase, if not then I see only two options, returning the watch or selling it on.

Bearing in mind what I have said previously I would value the watch at around £100 as it is and £120 without the defects.

Well would you Adam and Eve it :amen: another double decker LED watch like Bus it would be awesome for a third to turn up. :grin1:
No Mick mine is in much better condition than that. (although not mint).
If that's a 7/10, Imo, mines 8.5 to 9, with box.
Should be interesting to see the end price eh? If it makes it.
Hey Should we have a bidding/guessing game to make up for the one we all missed out on before. M:)W:)M  ~:( ~:( ;-) ;-) :ironie:
Thanks for that Mick. :Prost:

It will be interesting to see what price it achieves, I stick to what I said previously as it is basically a CompuChron with 'Rado' in large unattractive letters stamped on the crystal.

It looks somewhat like a compuchron now you mention it.
I found this on ebay read the desription for your answer...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/70s-Retro-RADO-Compu-Chron-LED-Watch-MIB-Never-Worn-Minty-/200825118017?nma=true&si=kJ4RpM%252BGpvVO7XpS9FVknChmuHo%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Thank you for the pictures.

So this one made $355 a really good one?

This one 221382385722 made $202.50 Comparatively rough and not as nice/desirable and it's Gold coloured
He's most probably bid it up himself instead of putting a reserve on it cos he's re-listed it.
I asked him if he had a BIN price (for these purposes) and he said $350. no  no M:)W:)M
I know that price is a personal thing most of the time as Mick and I agree on.
So it must be market value I was requiring. :-?
And that is a very fickle thing sometimes, especially on Ebay I guess. :amen:

That's why I took a part refund and kept the watch. I'm happy :-D well it's better than saying :bye:
Thanks all for the input.

Those Large unattractive letters are standard Rado Type albeit a bit on the plump side. Granted
On the wrist they don't look as large like they do in the Pic's.
Also I'm sure there's a reason why your/my other half found you/me physically attractive,
but as Rolf Harris said "Du yu nar wod is is yet?" ;-)

Be careful what you say Mick or you might have the none purist's polishing the large
unattractive logo's off their TC' and Pulsars et all.
Forgive them father, for they know not what they do. :amen:

Yes, we all have different tastes it's one of the things that make collecting watches interesting, I was not disrespecting your point of view just expressing my own and as you rightly pointed out not every one will appreciate some of the watches in my collection, (which is fine by me), if the owner of the watch is happy then that is all that matters.

For instance some might not quite appreciate the beauty of this wrist dwelling babe! :grin1: .. ... .. ..
