Phasar Multi alarm

Post02 Apr 2014, 16:34

Here my new "old" Phasar Multi Alarm in amazing condition probably released in 1979-1980...on the back the original dollar price: 79.99....The watch is made in Japan (except the band from Honk Kong  ) and is all Stainless Steel :-P
Seems to be a multi alarm made by citizen...
A great true classic... ;-)

A nice designed and easy to read module with a good quality case....That explains the higher price in those days. :-D

Very attractive Phasar. The name makes me think of Quasar brand televisions from back then and of course Pulsar watches. I don't know a thing about the brand but wonder if cost was the deciding reason for buying the heads in Japan and fitting them with bracelets from Hong Kong. Phasar may have been ahead of it's time in that respect.

It would be interesting to determine which company assembled the watch for Sears.

Well i open the case back and the module was branded only sears....not citizen...so strange...but i'm sure that it's a 100% Citizen multi alarm variant

I have seen consumer appliances with components like motors and camera lenses branded Sears even though they were manufactured by some other company.

Are you sure the bracelet is the original one? It looks like it doesn't line up exactly with the case.
I have a couple of (Seiko-)Phasar Watches and they all come with decent quality Seiko bracelets minus the Seiko name on the clasp.

Good question....
In my opinion they are all "original" to the watch...I also have 2 gold tone Phasar digi-ana (module y651) both with identical band (Honk Kong)

If all three watches have the same bracelet, then it's most definitely original. Maybe Sears did it to cut the costs? Those watches were considerably cheaper than their Seiko and Citizen counterparts after all.
