By the way, no appreciable difference in the conductivity, the gold plate is anti corrosion, not for reduced resistance. Actually gold plating cables seems to be an urban myth when used for improving sound quality in stereo systems, except by those selling them for outrageous prices.

P.s. Our b777 have straight canon plug connectors and nothing is gold plated there. You would think avionics required the best lowest resistant connections, but apparently not, due to the fact that there is no payback in quality. Being a dry environment, no need for corrosion coatings either. Just a dab of electronic lubricant, aka DeOxit gold type formulae.
