Hey all,
Im working on an early optel DSM. I never worked on this movement and have a few questions.
As you can see in the picture the Xtal is ticking with the battery installed, my assumption is that the circuit is OK?
The DSM display is giving no response. Im unexperienced with these displays:
- From what I see in pictures around the forum my display is looking 'normal' with its mirrored segments. What happens when the display would light up? Is there still the mirror like background? Or does that 'blacken' and do white digits show up?
Does the watch work (digits showing) with a defective switch (the crown operated switch)
Does the switch have to be in a certain position for the digits to show up? I tried the three (?) positions: left, middle and right. No effect
A lot of contact points to the DSM display have corrosion on the contact points (clearly visible in the last picture) but some don't. I assume that if the display would be responsive at least a few of the digits would show?
From what I have seen under my microscope all soldered contacts are OK, although the circuit board suffered from some minor corrosion. The switch has corrosion too, but all gold plated contact points seem to be OK
All tips would be welcome, thanks in advance!
