1976 Citizen Crystron 50-3037 Space Age model

Post23 Jan 2015, 00:40

Hey all
As you might know I have a very weak spot for the Citizen Crystron watches and Citizen LC watches of the 1970's/early 80's in general.
This one has been on my wish list for some time. Its rarely offered, but recently I was able to purchase this sample from a collector in the UK
I polished the crystal, and had to replace the movement with another similar one (the original movement had a faulty display and some other issues)
The Citizen Crystron 50-3037 of 1975 en 1976 (this sample is 1976). A bit awkward is that this watch is the exact model pictured on the DWL (same serial number)
Its a small world ..

Its fully original, although some brushed parts were polished in the past. I decided to keep it this way as i am not able to refurbish the top to a same correct brush due to its glued crystal

It's incredible...the world is real small...i wear it yesterday!!My UFO Citizen :grin1:

Anyway i have a problem with the lcd (i think the green top filter needs to be replaced)...it's very difficult to explain so i must take some shots but i know for sure that this issue depends by light conditions ( it's not a classic rainbow effect so with certain light condition the digits are empty and only the edges are visible) ... :-D
Some watches are made to last only as long as they are fashionable
Some watches, simply are not made to last
Seiko watches are designed to withstand the ravages of both time and fashion
Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way
