1976 Citizen Crystron 60-1131 project

Post06 Apr 2015, 22:15

Hey all,
I havent been posting much on here the past times. So it was about time. As this watch (case/dial/movement/original bracelet combo) has been a long time project for me which I finally finished, id like to share it with you
One of the many watches I have been working on the past months, this 1976 Citizen 60-1131 with a 9060A movement
The 9060A movement in a clean condition is a more or less impossible find; very vulnerable to battery acid, especially the very small connectors to the pushers. 1 on 6 is more or less ok, the rest is dead or has malfunctions. This one was build of 4 movements eventually to make a clean movement.
I removed scratches and polished the original crystal, refurbished the case and strap. The movement was serviced and its deviation was regulated

This movement has blue digits (a rarity for lcd panels) which makes a fantastic match with the dial. I am an enthusiastic Citizen collector (amongst the Seiko's, Casio's and other Japanese brands), I really enjoy the case designs of the early Citizen LC's. But I like Citizen's LCD font(s) even more

So here it is:

Wowwww...great restoration as usual my friend! I love the early crystron.... :O`~

:dwf:
Some watches are made to last only as long as they are fashionable
Some watches, simply are not made to last
Seiko watches are designed to withstand the ravages of both time and fashion
Someday perhaps, all watches will be made this way

Super cool watch! I love the blue lcd :)
The one on the right is the "pedestrian ;) " black version, it's in very nice shape, even the green sticker is still on the caseback. It was filled with sticky battery crud, but started to work after cleaning :)
(the one on the left was incorrectly assembled, partially digits, repaired after correctly assembling the module)

Nice pair!
Your 'ufo' is in a great shape too, I like that watch for its combination of feminine (case/crystal) and more muscular (bracelet/ size of the watch) design features. A true mindfuck these days
