ultra rare early 80's LCD YEMA LCD Sun/Moon watch

Post03 Mar 2018, 23:38

Hi,
While I usually present ONLY the rarest LCD watches from the 70's-80's, this time I will make a joke...this IS the rarest KID's like LCD of early 80's: the MOON/SUN dual layer LCD watch:
http://www.liquidcrystal.co.nz/watches/ ... ted-watch/
Ultra rare, according to http://www.liquidcrystal.co.nz/watches/ ... ted-watch/
"I would imagine the module was used by other manufacturers too, but as I said, I’ve never seen another one."
Images with Cardinal watch are from http://www.liquidcrystal.co.nz/watches/ ... ted-watch/

and another photo from the same website:

But while it seems to be very rare :) - please see the online paper above :)), I already have one of this from a known watch brand signature: YEMA, including a vintage 70'-80"s Flixo-Flex like bracelet:

Regards,
:dwf:

Hi Ronald,
According to our fellow collector and watch blogger LiquidCrystal it seems to be quite rare:
"I would imagine the module was used by other manufacturers too, but as I said, I’ve never seen another one."
http://www.liquidcrystal.co.nz/watches/ ... ted-watch/

And I may confirm that it may be rare :grin1: : since 2 years ago, when I've read on liquidcrystal.co.nz blog about it, I've seen only 2 Yema's Sun-Moon LCD for sell: the one presented above that I bought and another one with a non-working LCD.
And I've read online - after some searches - only about another similar LCD watch with animated Sun-Moon branded Armitron, but with a plastic case (pls see the picture below!)

Thanks. Sounds like a difficult find over years of searching.

PS. And I knew that I've seen somewhere a picture of such a LCD module - not the watch itself, with the same animated Sun-Moon display.
And now I've found again where - and surprise! - it is presented in an excellent post on THIS Forum :grin1: , a post presenting another outstanding finding of some very rare Swiss Made early LCD modules by our fellow member and watch expert Mr. Babanin.

Between those rare Swiss Made modules, You will find also a animated Sun-Moon LCD module. Of course, this not mean that it is also Swiss Made module, but it is presented there - as a rare find. :-)

Thanks Mr. Babanin for posting it!
