Seiko D031 Faint Display

Post11 Jun 2018, 21:33

I just purchased a Seiko D031 on Ebay which has a very faint display. When scrolling the date it all but disappears. I've tried a new battery and still the same problem.

I happen to have a completely spare D031 which has a crack LCD screen. Any suggestions for a fix?

Thanks

I have a seiko 624-5009 that was missing a complete digit on the screen. I got it cheap because of that. I took it out of the case and disassembled the front glass down to the zebra strips. Cleaned them and the metal contacts, reassembled and voila, it works. Still going and that was at least 6or seven years ago. Maybe that’s all you need on yours. Peter

Check the board for any contamination, like batt leakeage or other. If so do a clean.
Anyway your issue reminds me a faulty board :-?

I have been quietly informed there are no zebra strips on a 624. Must have been a different model that I did this on, although I don’t deal w/lcds that much I cannot recall which one was involved. I did do it (cleaned the strips) and it did work. Mea Culpa. Peter

I think nothing to be lost from a strip, clean and reassemble so will give that a try 1st.

I must admit I hadn't got round to doing anything with the watch, but went to have a go tonight and found it's now much clearer.
