JULES JURGENSEN OPTCOM I OPTEL w/ FE Display

Post26 Dec 2019, 20:50

Just acquired a Jules Jurgensen OPTCOM I. Looks like it's operational but the Field Effect LCD display is dim probably due to its age. This model has the flashing display module presumably to extend the battery life. Will send more pictures when I receive it otherwise the case appears to be in great shape. If the FE LCD display is dim is there a way to revive it? If I also were to swap this FE module out this module with another Optel DSM module would it be difficult to do and is it a 1:1 swap?

resized the photos, originals were way too large.

Updated this watch with a DSM 5424F LCD module. Does anyone know the best way to remove the crystal? I'm not even sure if it's a mineral crystal glass or acrylic plastic. I wanted to restore the brush marks on the flat surface around the crystal.

thank you!
Robert

Its a mineral Crystal...make it warm and try to push it inside out. Or find something as big as the glass to give equal pressure all over when you push it out.

Thank you Kasper for that tip. So the mineral crystal is mounted on from the outside just like the Pulsar LED cases? There is the inside frame that houses the Opticom 1 bezel so essentially I would need to warm up the outside face to soften up the glue and gently push the crystal outward from the inside of the case correct?

thank you!

i can not tell you it's inside out or reverse...if you get the module out..it,s easy to see the direction to push. :-D
