The model "Olivetti" from the micro-brand D1 Milano is a few years old, but I think it deserves to be mentioned in this forum.
I first spotted it in
this fairly decent video presentation.
Pros:
- Complete set of standard time functions — time, 2nd time zone, chronograph, countdown timer, alarm
- Four buttons — three is a compromise, two is a pain, one is a quagmire of time-outs
- A decent manual!
- Legibility — big digits and letters
- World time zones including DST and some of the fractional hour zones
- Slowly fading illumination is, admit it, actually rather cool
Cons:
- Come on Italy, is this all you could do, design-wise? The typewriter "Valentine" is much more iconic and daring. This is too close to Apple Watch, way too Braun-ish.
- Anything less than 10atm pressure rating is a downer for me.
- Legibility — negative display
- 8 years from now, when the band is torn, then what?
Addendum: Battery? Neither the home page, nor the manual, mentions anything about battery replacement. Au contraire, one is cautioned never to open the case. Fishy!
