visit to Mr RR

Post06 Oct 2004, 21:48

Has anyone visited RR at his address or picked up a watch from him? All this waiting would drive me mad. :?:

I have written to Custom Circuits Division in hope!!!! I don't expect a reply this side of the grave - I'm 55. But - I do now own a Synch or two so can at least marvel at the whole concept close up. It really is amazing to think they were built 30 yrs ago.To all of you who want one and don't have one - good luck - they are better than you can imagine when you finally hold one that works. Even non working ones are interesting to take apart. :)

What do you mean "one or two"? Unsure how many Synchronars you got?

I?d just phone him and ask if it?s okay to drop by in New Berlin and whether he?s got a watch on stock for instant-sale... :P

Tried phoning - several times - Just Voicemail - they probably don't return the calls any faster than they would write back to you. If you knocked on the door they probably wouldn't answer for three years! Anyone in New York care to go and knock on the door for all of us? See if they really exist at that address?

I did visit him once. Charming, hospitable, generous with his time. I had a complete tour of his watchworks. I was about 5 years into my wait for my Synchronar and I thought he might have one on hand but he did not. A few months later it did arrive. I have never worn it. I just loveingly stare at it in awe.

They REALLY exist.

When phoning him, please keep in mind that you phone during US business hours, NOT european time. With some luck you should have him answering the phone sooner or later.

Sorry guys I was not online to tell you he was in an ICU at a hospital in critical condition room with a trache tube down his throat for bits of several months. Huh even the family could not communicate with him for the better part of 5 months at 2 Hospital ICU,s and 2 rehab facilities.
And if you did not know his only watch helper/phone person, snuck off(with a box of stuff) that was shipped to UK shortly before my father got sick leading to Hospitalization in October of 04 never returning back to his work/phone and passing Feb,16th 2005.
I myself was in Florida with family at that time and was away from the watch for 15 years! Please understand he did not leave me a how to manual on how to proceed. It has taken me some time to cope and figure/remember things from when I was involved as a contractor in the late 80,s and all of 1990.
I joined this forum to help people however I can and still don't know all the answers. I do know that yes like any business he had some lingering orders we all have heard about enough of already. In 34 yaers of making watches, sure enough he died with a litlle backlog by the time collectors (some on this forum) became aware of and placed an order which amounts to less than .001 percent of the customers that were there for him before the Synchronar had it,s first unofficial site/interview/review.
It really is sad that some people can't stand it that I might be interested in helping some people,so they like to spin yarns and dramatise things anyway they can before I get a chance to help.

Official reviews?

Post20 Jun 2006, 21:38

Ahem,

I would say that all reviews are unofficial since "official reviews" are usually called advertising.
