This is not an Old Pulsar LED Box!

Post16 Jul 2007, 17:53

Hey folks,

Just so nobody get's taken, this is NOT a box from the 70s Pulsar LED watches. In fact, it's a Seiko watch box for a Quartz watch. This same box in a Black and Grey version has also been presented as a box for the collectable Old Pulsar LED watches. The seller mentions "Pulsar Time Computer LED digital watch" in his description, this is NOT from the Time Computer company!

Thanks for the warning, any chance of getting some boxes referenced on your site - and what model came with which box?

Not to take anything away from this forum but that would be a good question for the new oldpulsar.com forum, I am sure somebody will have the same question sooner or latter, not sure they wil find it here in time as it will be so far down the list?

Anyway, if your talking about the 2nd Generation TC box, yes, I will sell them separatly, $15 each with discounts on multiple purchases!

Thanks for the warning TC. Did you bring this to the sellers attention? If so, what was his reaction?

Thanks

Steve, actually I didn't! I tried once before about another auction and got the old stuck on stupid defense.

This guy has been around for some time, he is on his third eBay ID that I know of and I'am sure his reply would just claim ignorance. He also is one of those who thought it would be cute to use a derivitive of my orginal eBay name by using a zero instead of an "O" in oldpulsars. He was kicked off eBay then just came back with this new name. There's no doubt he knows what he's selling. I guess while we're in damage control we'll just make a list of who's honest and who isn't.

There have been two previous threads on "0l_stuff". He does not have a good record with several people on this board. You can read through the threads here:

http://www.dwf.nu/viewtopic.php?t=1839& ... ht=0lstuff

Unfortunately, threads about bad sellers disappear into oblivion over time. It seems harsh to have a "hall of shame" on this forum, but there are sellers that just plain need to be avoided.

There are new people discovering/rediscovering LED watches all the time. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to protect others from problem sellers?

I don't have an answer....it's hard to poll people whilst remaining fair to the sellers, most of whom do not come here. Ebay's feedback system tends to alllow sellers to bully buyers, since sellers usually have the benefit of several times as many sales as a buyer has "buys" :x . Someone have a great idea, I'll implement it.

I think this community is doing everything it can, I think we can only work on making bad information easier to find for the buyer before they become a victim. As like most News and other information, it’s always the bad news that gets reported. Yes, the majority of sales are good but we are stuck with only haveing time to report the bad!

I think other than rare cases, most any novice buyer to digital watches will find this forum or my website, all the search engines give the opportunity for a buyer to find us. If a buyer doesn’t do the research then there isn’t much we can do.

My suggestion would be to create a new section on both this forum and my forum as well, they should be near or at the top, maybe something like

Before you Buy . . . . Auctions & Private Watch Sales

Ideas of some Subcategories:

Tips on buying a digital watch!
Bogus Auctions,
Bogus Sellers,
Bogus Buyers

Dennis makes a good point - sites like this one and his, that are well traveled and rank well in the search engines, have tremendous power to help the collecting community. I'm going to start on the creation of such an area...it will probably have some fits and starts, but is the kind of fresh air we need after fiascos like the "Great Crystal Caper of 2007".
