Steel Sychromar

Hi all,
I have had a steel Synchromar for about 3 years now (non working of course)
I collect Omega TC's and other digitals but for some reason have never got round to joining this forum.
Am I correct that they can now be repaired by a member?

Hi Colin, i think you will find there are a number of forum members that can repair Synchronars, the problem is whether yours is repairable and if someone with the required expertise is willing to repair it (if possible) From what i can ascertain, the repairs are very time consuming due to the original sealing process employed requiring probably more expertise than any other led i can think of, and also a sprinkling of luck :D It also appears that the majority of remaining watches are non-working. There has been talk on this forum in the past of retrofit modules etc, but as far as i am aware nothing as appeared as of yet. Good luck with your endevours, a working Synchronar is a great thing to own, i certainly wish i had one :!:

Hi Colon G There have been a few alternetive look-a-like or opened up and semi-repaired versions mentioned. This may be the only option at this time because the new suplies are real low and a new module would be costly. I for one(there may be others) can custom build what you want in ranges of $400.00 to $800 for a rebuilt one that is not sealed or encapsulated--- and--- $900.00 to $1.400 per module completed as original type seal and Potting(encapsulating with shock absorbing protective gel),Sr# etc.

It does seem that mostly you see the non workers for sale, one reason being that an owner would not be selling his only working Synchronar. Also there have been so few made in the last 23 years(less than 800) that naturally there is a greater majority not working. In the first 10 or 11 years there were over 30,000 made with only a small percentage still working as original.
All these are repairable as difficult as it is. HOWEVER there is the corrosion factor and that is the gamble.Unfortunatly this has been noticed often in some of the acid leakers. When opening almost any electronic product that has not been opened for 15 + years your bound to find this especialy when a battery leaks too much. The good news is these current batteries used are much less likely to leak to such a degree as some of the batteries from the previous century that turned out to be defective at the seal.
