Ledwatch,

Thank you very much for the ceramic black Synchronar, it’s truly a beauty! Also, thank you for all of those freebee gifts, and for setting the Synchronar’s date and time to my time zone! When I can scrape together enough money, I’ll arrange to buyback my firstborn from you.

Caseyse,
Welcome to what is probably a very exclusive club; owners of working, unworn NOS black Synchronars!
I wonder how many of the 1000 (or so) of these survive in that condition?

So, are you going to wear it, or put it on an altar near the window? (I have to confess, mine is still unworn.)

Well...I suspect some will cringe at the thought, but I love this watch so much, that I’m going to wear it. This will only make your unworn black Synchronar that much more valuable!

I wear my black Synchronar and a select few other watches so that I can see them and admire them throughout the day. It also gives me the opportunity to introduce others to the watch, who have not been exposed to the Synchronar. So, I’m not a collector in the purest sense.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I wear most of my watches at least once in a while.
I do have some modern ones that I think will grow in value in the future that I bought doubles of, so I can have an "NOS" example in the box, and still wear one. And I prefer stainless or "white" metals, so my gold ones don't see much wrist time.

But there are a few that are too rare, too vintage, and too perfect for me to wear without feeling nervous about, and the black Synchronar is one of them. (I'm a chicken. I don't want to be the one that messes it up after it made it this long untouched.)

I will be wearing my stainless Mark 5 Synchronar as soon as it arrives, probably daily. This is going to be a difficult wait. (Hopefully not as long as some of the other members have had to wait for theirs.)

If I had a black synchronar it would probably be in a secured shrine...

I wouldn?t dare wearing it, unless I had a second one in same or better condition.

I didn?t wear my green compuchron unless I had a second one...

caseyse:You go girl!I know I will wear mine (when I have one)
Wearing them is 50% of the fun with watches.

At christmas I will have my very own Synch (SS or black) and I will wear it often, not to work maybe but every weekend.

Haha, you?re right, the delivery could take a few years. Let?s just pray that roger becomes 100 years old...

Damn, I wish there were more people with visions like him!!!

Has he also still got some of the black cases? I thought he currently only has SS and GF cases, but well - I?m just not sure...

My pleasure Sean, thanks for bidding so well on it, when I sell a led I always set the time date to the buyers timezone, I think its a nice touch to do that for people.
Question for the Forum....
Ive just got delivery of another batch of 12 'new' boxed 70's synchronars and they have dot matrix modules in them, were these Mk1 or Mk2 modules, were they more common than the bar type? can anyone help with some info?

12 (in words: TWELVE) Synchronars???

I suppose not even Roger Riehl ever had 12 Synchronars in his posession (He?s usually faster with selling than with making)...

lol

You must have some supernatural powers, I search for two years and haven?t even seen or touched ONE lousy broken Synchronar myself...

Ledwatch,
Are you silicone re-potting the modules in you replace the batteries in? If so, what compound are you using, and what type of Lexan resin are you using to re-seal the module after? (Do you have to add a colorant to make it a matching red, or can it be purchased the correct hue?)

My Mark1 module is the bar segment type display, most of the others I've seen, even some of Roger's later watches have the dot type display. I imagine he/Ragen used whichever was available to meet production.

And what are you asking for the Synchronars?

There should be a limit on how many Synchronars you can own...maybe extra taxes if you have more than 2

Despite the best efforts of bloated, money-hungry politicians, we are still able to keep most of our own hard-earned money in the US, maybe that's why we can afford more Synchronars.

We LED collecting Americans would start another bloody revolution if they tried to pull that kind of thing here. Hopefully it wouldn't require any dumping of Synchronars in Boston Harbor. :P

Though, I suppose we could just rent scuba gear and go get them off the bottom after all the Synchronar-taxing tyrants were properly dispatched via public hanging or firing squad and wristwatch freedom was restored again.

Thats a good idea...throw your watches int he harbour and the Golf-stream could take the watches to Sweden instead

You have to many of them in the US...not fair

They are made here, that's why we have more. How about we trade?
You get a Synchronar in trade for one of my favorite Swedish-made products; a tall blonde Swedish female.

Just don't tell my girlfriend, she's German and she'd probably use two of my favorite German-made products on me if she found out. My HK91 to shoot me in the kneecaps with, and the BMW to run me over while I writhed in pain.

Oh, by the way, the harbor reference was to the Boston Tea Party http://campus.northpark.edu/history/WebChron/USA/TeaParty.html

(It was an instrumental event in beginning the American revolution. We dumped shipments of tea in the harbor in protest of the taxes imposed on it. Americans don't like taxes much.)
