LCD Drivers?

Post28 Mar 2010, 02:44

Has there ever been any LCD drivers or sideviews? I know I haven't seen any.

I have just found one, though not vintage and it has dual displays. Why the dual displays is beyond me.

Good question - I can't think of any, maybe they wasn't made because there was no need to shield the display from the glare of the sun as with the LED's, I initially thought about the Sicura solar LCD but that had the solar panels at the side with the display still uppermost.

I found another one made by Seiko. Its kinda ugly and plastic, not something I would want.

And another one,

Those actually are a dual view, they have a LCD for front view and a LED for top view.

morelite do you think it is worth it to buy for $499.99 as the condition of the belt doesn't seems so good and if I want to change the belt how much it will be costing to me.

I really don't know anything about those watches nor what they're worth. I do know that I've seen them for half that price and they still didn't have any bidders.
I would have more interest in them if they where all metal and didn't look like a plastic toy.

The bands look like a standard band so you could get just about any type or style that you like to work on them.

Those watches were actually designed in conjunction with an award winning Japanese recording artist(name escapes me at this moment, I have one of the signed editions.). They were made in several colors, the clear one's are most common. I've seen pink, blue, green and brown. There is also a special Disney Japan edition(I have that one also, fully boxed). The metronome feature works quite well, with the speed being digitally displayed - you can set it running and hang on a microphone for a "click track". I have actually done that in a playing situation where we didn't have a drummer and speed was lagging because the guitarist was refusing to follow my efforts( bass player) to pull him along. "Why are you speeding up there?" Answer:"Because YOU are slowing down there!" The other built in rythmns aren't for crap, IMO. Has 1/100 chronograph, time, date.

The LED readout is nice for a dark club -I think of it as a Longine Gemini for the hip-hop musician. 8-)

Ugly little things, aren't they...although, they do bear some marginal resemblance to a Synchronar. But their battery changes don't require a knife and a jeweler's saw. M:)W:)M !@@!

Is it actually LED, or is it LED-backlit LCD? I've always been wondering.

Seems to be a front-lit LCD from the strong glow outside the display. But very read-able, like the LCD matrix has some chemical in it that glows from the red light. And the top display shows differently than the front one - it only displays time,day-date, day-of week, sound and alarm mode. Front display shows time and running seconds, chrono., alarm, BPS(beats per second) and the 6 built-in rythmn selections.

That watch is also sold as a STANTON(brand) - they make various DJ scratching devices...for hip-hop.
