Pulsar Digital Y789-5489

Hi all-
This is my first post and I am trying to get some info on a 80's Pulsar digital I picked up for $5.00 on Ebay. I was hoping to find out what battery to get for when it arrives but putting the model number in google does not give me much info. The number is Y789-5489. Any ifo would be greatly appreciated.

Though not the exact same model, your watch looks quite similar to my Y759-5019. I looked on Digital Watch Library and coudln't find your exact model. I also did a quick Google search and didn't come up with much.

I recently tried replacing my battery. My Y759-5019 takes a CR2012 but I couldn't find them in any local stores (drugstores, Walmart, Target, etc.) I thought that they were no longer made but after a search online I found plenty of sources. I ended up ordering from Amazon.

If you need instructions you might try searching Digital Watch Library for the manual for Y759-5019. Since yours looks similar, I'm guessing that they use the same module. The instructions are probably the same. Good luck!

If you can't find the manual, try measuring the battery compartment.
If it takes a Lithium coin cell, you can easily determine the required battery type: Lithium batteries are named CRxxyy, where xx is battery diameter in mm and yy is battery thickness in 1/10mm, e.g. a CR1620 battery has 16mm diameter and is 2.0mm thick.
As all Lithium cells have 3V, it doesn't matter if you don't have the exact battery type as long as it fits.

Similar for Alkaline button cells (1.5V), but here it's a bit harder to determine the correct type because the number is not directly related to battery size - you need a table.

LEDLuvr, Thanks! I did search through that chart. There were no other options for a battery that is 20mm diameter and 1.2mm high other than a 2012. I was able to find the correct battery online, though. I wonder if this form factor of battery is fading away since I couldn't find it in local stores...

Thanks for the help! The watch arrived today and upon opening it still had a battery in it a 2016. I had some in my kit and she fired right up and all functions work. When I have a chance I will post a wrist shot.
