DWF collector meet up in the UK last week

Post26 Jan 2011, 00:58

I had some business in the UK last week. After arrival to Heathrow, it required a drive north from London to Bolton, a four hour motorway trip. Bolton is a little bit north of Manchester.

Before the trip I contacted our fellow DWF member Mick (bucko170) and asked if he'd like to meet up whilst I was in Bolton for that day.

While I and another friend Alex were driving north to Bolton, Mick, at the same time, was driving west across the 'moors' from Nottinghamshire to Bolton. And it was nearly as long a drive as ours.

We met up at noon that day. Besides Alex and Mick, we had two associates from Bolton joining us. We were five in total. Mick, bless his heart, was kind enough to bring along a satchel of LED jewels from his considerable watch collection. A few of them I'd only seen in pictures. Mick graciously detailed his collection with us, patiently explaining some of the interesting particulars in the selections to Alex and the other two. One of them was completely enamored with a beautiful Green Pulsar dress watch that Mick had passed around.

The day came to a close, and Mick had a long drive back across the 'moors' to go home to his family. Before Mick left, Alex snapped a photo of the two DWF blokes for the history books.

Thanks again Mick for the friendship. I really appreciate your willingness to drive the distance for our meet up that day!

Regards, Jeff

It was a pleasure to meet up with you Jeff and to have the opportunity to show off some of my watch collection, thank you for your kindness in inviting me along and taking the time out to fit me into your schedule, it was a great day.

Thank you for posting the photo. :-D

[admin. chimes in here: this thread has been viewed a lot.. Meeting up with a fellow watch enthusiast is rare: I have only done face2face with two people, and really only one of those was a meeting like yours. Very cool. 8-)]
